Updates From dr. farrington
October 2024
Hi everyone,
Just an update on the great things that are starting to happen for the clinic! First and foremost, we have hired a new full-time associate that will be with us at LEAST through next summer. Dr. Alexis Book is joining us from Maryland. Her husband is enrolled in a veterinary surgery internship at Angell in Boston, so she MIGHT not be with us next year depending on where he gets accepted for his residency.
Dr. Book has been practicing at a small animal and exotic general practice back home and has a strong interest in imaging, dentistry, and small mammal medicine. I am very happy to have her joining our team, and hope she will be able to stay with us long term.
Many of you also may have met Dr. Tania Roos. Dr Roos is a long-term relief veterinarian who has been with us since June and will continue to be here on Mondays and Wednesdays through the new year. She has extensive experience after completing a small animal emergency and surgery internship at North Carolina, and years of working in multiple general and urgent care practices, and working as s surgeon at a spay/neuter clinic. Dr. Roos will be helping us out with problem/urgent care cases, surgery, and small mammal care.
As a result, we will be open again on Fridays until 6 pm, and able to accommodate surgeries in a much timelier fashion. Since referrals to ER and specialty Dental practices have become more challenging, I have spent extra time on continuing education in non-routine oral surgery and have invested in digital dental radiology. We are also making a renewed commitment to providing urgent care. My hope is to still bring in an additional full-time associate to expand our surgical and urgent care case load, as that still seems to be the greatest need in the area.
I would like to thank all of you for your patience over the summer. I know it was not ideal to not be open on Fridays and to have such long wait times for elective surgery. The primary goal has always been to bring in a team that shares our commitment to patient care and ensure that we continue to be able to provide services beyond just wellness care. Both Dr. Book and Dr. Roos are equally committed to our patients and their families, and I hope you will find them to be a valuable addition to your four-legged family member's care.
Thank you, Dr. Farrington

MAY 2024
Hey everyone,
I hope you and your four legged family members are enjoying Spring's late arrival! I am reaching out with what is great news for Dr. Coates, but sad news for our CCVC family. Dr. Coates was offered a late opening for an internship in Veterinary Imaging in North Carolina. This has been a goal for him for the last several years, and something he cannot pass up,despite the timing. His last day with us will be May 31st. While we will be very sorry to lose him, I am extraordinarily happy that a life long goal is finally within his, and his family's reach!
While I do have two promising candidates for full time positions coming in the next few weeks, even if I were to hire them on the spot, they would not be able to start for at least 3 months. The only way I can see appointments and be able to continue to provide surgery appointments, is to do 4, 10- hour day shifts a week. This means we will be closed most Fridays, starting June 1st. Dr. Roman will be picking up a couple of Fridays, and covering the week I will be on vacation in August. That will be a 5 day week where we will be closing at 6pm. I am also working with a new veterinary relief group to find a doctor to see appointments during the day when I have to do surgeries.
I apologize for the inconvenience in all of this, and know it will be difficult, especially during the summer, to only be available 4 days a week. We will do our best to efficiently triage appointments to ensure we can see as many urgent care cases as we can, but the reality will likely be that we will need to refer away more cases that require same day care. We may also have to ask elective surgery patients to reschedule if a patient with more urgent needs comes in. I will do my best to care for all of you who have been so supportive throughout the years, and just ask that you please be patient with the staff for scheduling, prescription needs, and questions, as any delays will not be because of them but purely on my ability to manage time.
Keep your fingers crossed. I hope to have good news by mid June on at least one new associate.
Thank you,
Dr. Linda
